Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 8 tablespoons butter softened
  • 8 cloves garlic minced
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese plus more for topping
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • Crushed red pepper for topping
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for crispy bread.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, kosher salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese, dried basil, and dried oregano. Mix until well combined.
  3. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each half of the sliced bread.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese evenly over the garlic butter.
  6. Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Sprinkle crushed red pepper on top, along with extra Parmesan and chopped parsley for garnish.
  8. Allow to cool for a minute, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Prepare the garlic butter mixture a day ahead and refrigerate.
  • Leftover garlic bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic and freeze for up to a month.
