Ingredients

For the Steak and Shrimp:
  • 2 pieces lean New York Strip Steaks or steak of choice
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • ½ cup softened salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Cutting board
  • Chef's knife

Method

Cooking Steps:
  1. Start by seasoning your New York Strip Steaks generously with salt and ground black pepper. Allow them to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In your skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the steaks to the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time as needed for your desired doneness.
  3. Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, transfer them to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm. In the same skillet, add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt. Then, add the large shrimp and minced garlic. Sauté the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. While the shrimp is cooking, mix the softened salted butter with the additional minced garlic, chopped thyme, rosemary, and oregano in a small bowl. Stir well to combine.
  5. Return the steak to the skillet, spooning the garlic herb butter over the steak and shrimp. Allow everything to cook together for another minute.
  6. Slice the steak against the grain for maximum tenderness. Plate the steak and shrimp, drizzling any remaining garlic butter sauce on top.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect steak doneness.
  • Pair with sautéed spinach or steamed broccoli for added nutrients.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
