  • 2 steaks filet mignon (2" thick)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1/2 stick)

Method
 

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Steaks - Start by taking your filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator. Let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Season Generously - Season both sides of the steaks liberally with salt and pepper.
  3. Step 3: Preheat Your Skillet - Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Step 4: Sear the Steaks - Once the skillet is hot, add the steaks. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side.
  5. Step 5: Flip and Add Butter - Flip the steaks over and add the unsalted butter to the skillet.
  6. Step 6: Check for Doneness - Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.
  7. Step 7: Rest the Steaks - Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes.
