Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water for about 30 seconds.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the rinsed quinoa, two cups of water, and a dash of salt and olive oil if using. Stir to mix everything evenly.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a microwave-safe lid. Microwave on high for 6-8 minutes.
After cooking, let the bowl sit in the microwave for an additional 5 minutes.
Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave and use a fork to fluff the quinoa gently. Serve warm.
