Ingredients

  • 1 tube Pillsbury refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 12 slices Italian salami
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 16 slices pepperoni
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Sharp knife
  • Brush

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Dough - Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle, about 12 x 16 inches.
  3. Step 3: Add the Sauce and Fillings - Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving an inch border, then layer the salami, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni.
  4. Step 4: Roll It Up - Starting from one of the longer sides, roll the dough over the fillings, tucking in the sides as you go.
  5. Step 5: Seal the Edges - Pinch the seams to seal the Stromboli and place it seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Step 6: Brush and Season - Brush the top with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning and grated parmesan cheese.
  7. Step 7: Slice and Bake - Make slits in the top to allow steam to escape, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Garnish and Serve - Let cool, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce.

Notes

  • Experiment with different fillings like vegetables or meats!
  • For a crispier crust, bake directly on the oven rack for the last few minutes.
  • This Stromboli can be made ahead and frozen before baking; just thaw and bake when ready!
