Ingredients

  • 6 rolls frozen dinner rolls
  • 1 tablespoon melted buttermilk
  • 1 cup hot tap water
  • 1.5 tablespoons baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Parsley flakes for garnish
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Pastry Brush

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). While the oven warms up, take the frozen dinner rolls out of the freezer and let them thaw for about 30 minutes until they are soft but not completely rising.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of hot tap water with 1 1/2 tablespoons of baking soda. Stir until the baking soda is completely dissolved. This solution will give your pretzel bites that classic chewy texture and golden color.
  3. Once the rolls are thawed, cut each roll into quarters. Roll each piece into a small ball. If you want them to be a bit larger or smaller, feel free to adjust the size according to your preference.
  4. Carefully dip each ball into the baking soda solution for about 30 seconds. This step is crucial for that pretzel flavor and texture. After soaking, place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Brush each pretzel bite with the melted buttermilk using a pastry brush. Then, sprinkle a generous amount of parmesan cheese over the top, followed by a pinch of salt, pepper, and parsley flakes for added flavor and visual appeal.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the bites are golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent overbaking.
  7. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve your Parmesan Pretzel Bites warm, either on their own or with a side of your favorite dip.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, experiment with different seasonings.
  • These bites are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
