Ingredients

For the Bites:
  • 6 pieces frozen dinner rolls
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 cup hot tap water
  • 1.5 tablespoons baking soda
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parsley flakes for garnish
  • Parmesan cheese freshly grated for best flavor

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Pastry Brush

Method

Instructions:
  1. Start by placing the frozen dinner rolls in a bowl and pouring the hot tap water over them. Allow them to sit for about 20-30 minutes, or until they are thawed and slightly puffy.
  2. While the rolls are thawing, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your Parmesan Bread Bites bake evenly and achieve that perfect golden crust.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda and a pinch of salt in about 1 cup of hot tap water. This mixture will help create a nice crust on the bites.
  4. Once the rolls have thawed, remove them from the water and gently dip each roll into the baking soda mixture. Allow any excess liquid to drip off before placing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, parsley flakes, and a generous amount of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your taste!
  6. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
  7. Once baked, remove the Parmesan Bread Bites from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, straight from the oven, but they also make a great snack later!

Notes

  • If your bites are too doughy, ensure they are fully thawed before baking.
  • For a crispier exterior, make sure your oven is fully preheated before placing the rolls inside.
  • Watch the baking time closely; they can go from perfectly golden to overdone quickly.
