Baking Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Carefully separate the egg yolks from the whites. Place the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another.
- In the bowl with the egg yolks, add the icing sugar, melted butter, Nutella, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Sift in the cocoa powder and flour (minus 2 tablespoons) into the Nutella mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- Gradually pour in the lukewarm milk, whisking continuously until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. This step is crucial as it helps create the cake’s magical layers.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the Nutella batter. Be careful not to deflate the egg whites, as this will help the cake achieve its light texture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the dish for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
Notes
- Ensure your eggs are at room temperature for best volume when whipping the egg whites.
- Be gentle when folding the egg whites to maintain the cake's airiness.
- Let the cake cool completely before dusting with icing sugar to avoid melting.
