Ingredients

For the Marinade:
  • 1 pound chicken tenderloins tender and quick-cooking, ideal for this dish.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil for a rich flavor and moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder adds a touch of savory depth.
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano the star herb that gives this dish its name.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce for umami and tanginess.
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice fresh and zesty, brightens the entire dish.
  • 1 teaspoon salt to enhance all the flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon pepper for a subtle kick.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Skillet or grill pan
  • Meat Thermometer

Method

Instructions:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, dried oregano, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined. Add the chicken tenderloins to the marinade, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more intense flavor.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. If you prefer grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high as well.
  3. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Place the chicken in the skillet or on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken is golden brown.
  4. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy bite. Slice the chicken and serve it with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Marinating the chicken for longer enhances the flavor; however, avoid marinating for over 24 hours due to the acidity of the lemon juice, which can break down the chicken too much.
  • For added depth, consider adding a teaspoon of honey to the marinade for a touch of sweetness that balances the tanginess.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with sides like Chicken And Orzo or a fresh garden salad.
