Ingredients

  • 4 ounces butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon Butter Buds powdered butter flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup almonds finely chopped

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar. Cream until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Add the beaten egg, Butter Buds, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the creamed mixture. Mix until well incorporated.
  4. Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Step 5: Gently fold in the finely chopped almonds until evenly distributed.
  6. Step 6: Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Monitor closely as baking times may vary.
  8. Step 8: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
