Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup brown rice long-grain or short-grain
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 pinch salt optional
  • 1 dash olive oil optional

Method
 

  1. Rinse the brown rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the rinsed brown rice and 3 cups of water.
  3. Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe lid or plate.
  4. Microwave on high for 10 minutes, then reduce to medium and cook for an additional 20 minutes.
  5. Let the rice sit covered for about 5 minutes after cooking.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
