Ingredients
  

  • 1 stick unsalted butter frozen
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Step 3: Grate the frozen butter into the mixing bowl with self-rising flour.
  4. Step 4: Toss the grated butter with the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Step 5: Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently stir until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and dust with flour.
  7. Step 7: Pat the dough to 1-inch thickness and fold over a few times.
  8. Step 8: Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  9. Step 9: Place cut biscuits on the baking sheet, touching for soft sides.
  10. Step 10: Brush the tops with melted butter before baking.
  11. Step 11: Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container for up to two days.
  • Reheat biscuits in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes.
  • You can freeze cut biscuits before baking for later use.
