Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 can evaporated milk (12-ounce)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Storage jar or container

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the powdered sugar, evaporated milk, and salted butter. Stir gently to mix the ingredients together.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously to dissolve the powdered sugar and melt the butter. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Once the mixture is smooth and bubbly, remove it from the heat and add the semisweet chocolate chips. Stir until they are completely melted and the sauce is glossy.
  4. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash more of evaporated milk to reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, let it simmer a bit longer.
  5. Serve the hot fudge sauce warm over your favorite desserts or allow it to cool before transferring it to a storage jar for later use.

Notes

  • Store the sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • To reheat, warm it in the microwave or on the stovetop over low heat.
  • This sauce makes a great gift when placed in a decorative jar!
