Ingredients

For the Stromboli:
  • 1 package pizza dough leave out for hours at room temperature in advance
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup pepperoni (4 oz)
  • 0.5 cup roasted red pepper diced
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning dried
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley fresh chopped
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese freshly grated

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pastry Brush

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Start by taking your package of pizza dough out of the fridge and letting it sit at room temperature for a few hours. This makes it easier to work with when you’re ready to roll it out.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures that your stromboli will bake perfectly and achieve that golden-brown crust.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x16 inches. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.
  4. Spread the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Layer the pepperoni, diced roasted red peppers, and sprinkle the red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning on top.
  5. Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll the dough away from you, keeping the filling tucked in tightly. Once rolled, pinch the edges to seal and tuck the ends underneath.
  6. Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with minced garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the stromboli is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Let the stromboli cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve it up with warm pizza sauce for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to swap out the cheeses for your favorites or go vegan with dairy-free alternatives.
  • For a vegetarian option, leave out the pepperoni and add more veggies like spinach or mushrooms.
  • To freeze, wrap the stromboli tightly and thaw in the fridge overnight before baking.
