Instructions:
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients - In another bowl, combine the milk, lightly beaten egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk these together until smooth and creamy.
- Step 3: Combine Ingredients - Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture together with a spatula until just combined.
- Step 4: Heat the Oil - In a deep frying pot or skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 5: Shape the Donuts - Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut out donut shapes.
- Step 6: Fry the Donuts - Carefully place a few donuts at a time into the hot oil and fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Step 7: Drain and Cool - Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a cooling rack to drain excess oil. Let them cool completely.
- Step 8: Make the Chocolate Frosting - Melt butter and chopped dark chocolate in a saucepan, then whisk in vanilla extract, light corn syrup, and milk. Gradually add powdered sugar.
- Step 9: Frost the Donuts - Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the chocolate frosting and allow excess to drip off.
Notes
- Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week.
- Unfrosted donuts can be frozen for up to 3 months.
