Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt to evenly distribute the baking soda.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans using a spatula until the mixture is thick and chunky.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Dough can be refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if cookies spread excessively while baking.
