Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter This adds richness and helps the marshmallows melt perfectly.
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows (10.5 ounce) The star of the treat, providing that gooey goodness!
  • 1/3 cup dry yellow cake mix This is what gives the treats their cake batter flavor.
  • 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal The crunchy base of our treats.
  • 1 bottle sprinkles Use your favorite colors to make these treats even more festive!

Equipment

  • Large saucepan
  • Spatula
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wax paper or parchment paper

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Pan: Start by greasing a 9x13 inch baking pan with a little butter or cooking spray. This will make it easier to remove the treats later.
  2. Step 2: Melt the Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Once melted, add the 1 (10.5 ounce) bag of mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
  3. Step 3: Mix in the Cake Mix: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the 1/3 cup of dry yellow cake mix. Mix well until fully incorporated, ensuring there are no lumps.
  4. Step 4: Add the Rice Krispies: Gradually add the 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Gently fold the cereal into the mixture using a spatula until all the cereal is coated.
  5. Step 5: Fold in the Sprinkles: Once the cereal is mixed in, add your colorful sprinkles. Gently fold them in, being careful not to crush them.
  6. Step 6: Press into the Pan: Using a piece of wax or parchment paper, press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.
