Ingredients

Spice Mix
  • 1 tablespoon mild paprika
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (add more if you like heat)
  • 0.75 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon brown sugar (keto: use brown sugar substitute)
  • 0.5-0.75 teaspoon cayenne pepper (add more if you like heat)
  • 0.25 teaspoon cracked pepper (to taste)
Steak Bites
  • 2-3 oz steak (cut into 2-inch cubes; Sirloin, Rump, New York Strip, Porterhouse, or Ribeye)
  • 1-2 tablespoons canola oil (divided)
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (finely chopped)

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Tongs
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Steak. Start by cutting your steak into 2-inch cubes and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Step 2: Make the Spice Mix. In a mixing bowl, combine the mild paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and cracked pepper. Mix well.
  3. Step 3: Coat the Steak. Add the steak cubes to the bowl with the spice mix, toss to coat, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Heat the Skillet. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Step 5: Sear the Steak Bites. Add the marinated steak bites to the skillet in a single layer, sear for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Step 6: Add Butter and Garlic. Reduce heat to medium, push the steak to one side, and add butter and chopped garlic to the other side, allowing it to melt and become fragrant.
  7. Step 7: Coat the Steak in Garlic Butter. Toss the steak bites in the melted garlic butter to ensure each piece is well coated.
  8. Step 8: Serve and Enjoy! Transfer the steak bites to a serving platter and drizzle any remaining garlic butter over the top.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, feel free to increase the cayenne pepper or chili powder.
  • Letting the steak marinate longer enhances the flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
