Ingredients
  

  • 1 piece ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (more or less to taste)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 slices whole-wheat or artisan bread

Method
 

  1. Begin by toasting your slices of whole-wheat or artisan bread until they are golden brown and crispy.
  2. While the bread is toasting, cut the ripe avocado in half and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl and mash it with a fork until it reaches your desired level of creaminess.
  3. To the mashed avocado, add the balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, crushed red pepper flakes, sea salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  4. Spread a generous amount of the seasoned avocado mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.
  5. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider adding toppings such as sliced tomatoes, radishes, or even a poached egg for extra protein.
