Instructions
- Start by removing any outer leaves from the cabbage. Place it on a cutting board and slice it into thick steaks, about 1-inch thick. You should be able to get about 4-6 steaks from one head of cabbage.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter (or olive oil), Old Bay seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and dried parsley. Mix well until combined.
- Using a brush or a spoon, generously coat each cabbage steak with the seasoning mixture on both sides. Make sure to get the seasoning into all the nooks and crannies for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the cabbage steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Cook the cabbage steaks for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. They should be golden brown and crispy on the edges.
- In the last 2 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the finely shredded parmesan cheese on top of each steak and close the air fryer to allow it to melt.
- Once the steaks are done, carefully remove them from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional parsley if desired.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, try spraying a light mist of cooking spray on the cabbage steaks before air frying.
- Experiment with different spices! Cajun seasoning or even Italian herbs can add a unique twist.
- If you find the cabbage steaks too thick, feel free to slice them thinner for a quicker cooking time.
- Always keep an eye on the steaks as they cook, as air fryer models may vary in cooking time.
